    App has been horribly slow and delayed crashing randomly for months now. Pls fix.

    The news on The Economist is fantastic, as always. However, the app seems to be getting worse and worse. As near as I can tell, it is non-functional if you do not have an active Internet connection, despite the option of downloading entire issues. On top of that, even with an active connection, when it changes story an error often comes up saying “something went wrong”, and requiring action on the listener’s part before the next story plays. This is so bad that that I often just switch to a recorded book in frustration. The latest update seems to have made things even worse. Not only does the applications still run poorly when there is not an active Internet connection, but it has also gotten very slow to respond, and often starts playing all by itself minutes after I have stopped it. So I could be in the middle of a meeting, and suddenly everyone is surprised to hear my phone loudly reading a news story over the speaker. It is amazingly bad considering how good the rest of The Economist’s operations seem to be.

    The app is so difficult to use, it is lagging, it crashes all the time. When it is open the phone heat up like crazy.

    Love the content. Unfortunately I like to consume it with the audio app, which is almost unusably buggy. The app frequently stops between tracks on your queue - sometimes you just have to hit “play” again, but frequently you get “something went wrong - please retry”, which then loops. You can then try pressing that a few times, or force-closing the app which also sometimes doesn’t work. All of this is annoying, but if you’re driving it’s a fatal flaw.

    The Economist provides excellent journalism. However, in the last month, the app crashes more often than not when I try to read an article or listen to one.

    I love the Economist, top journalism and writers and yet, this application crashes with every other paragraph swap, making the reading experience awful. Please fix the app.

    This review is only about the App, not the content itself (which I love and value). The app used to work better. Currently, it is buggy, slow and crashes a lot when I listen to audio. I hope it will be more stable in the future. The current experience is very frustrating.

    Lost all data about what I had already read or listen to. Just an absolute garbage app.

  • Inconsistent App Experience

    Some days, the app is unusable - constantly closing and doesn’t open the page it closed. No option to report an issue. No explanation for crashing. Other days, the app works fine. To pay a hefty annual subscription and have repeated issues accessing news online is frustrating. Luckily, I have WSJ.
