  • Layout change 👎

The content went from pleasant to read to unusable with the change from a “reader” layout to just putting the magazine’s PDFs onto my phone screen. Very strange move after having done it right for so long. Disappointing for a magazine centering on digital culture to make this kind of mistake. I hope it was an honest one!
  • App is unusable

Unlike every modern news app, this just offers whole magazines for view. It’s not optimized for mobile or any screen. And it didn’t give me access when I logged in, even though I subscribe. Among the worst news apps I have ever used. Especially embarrassing for a tech magazine. This is what you’d do if you were deliberately trying to kill a magazine. Makes me want to unsubscribe.
  • From good to bad cheap magazine scans

I loved to read Wired on my iPad. I was a subscriber for several years. I even stayed when they started to issue only 6 magazines per year and charged for 12. But somebody at Conde Nast decided to go even cheaper. Instead of native iPad reading experience the latest update introduced a cheap scans of paper magazines (why cheap? because they don’t even care when you see a page break in the scan…). Why? Want to get rid of all your subscribers?
  • Reformat

Been a subscriber for years. The new formatting on digital copies is unreadable on my iPhone. The line breaks don’t make sense and you have to zoom and scroll to read for a page length.
  • The formatting messed up

I can’t read articles anymore from the app. The view is just like a scanned pages from the book and the font is too small. It was not like this before, something changes which messed up the app viewing.
  • Change from readable to magazine format

I am inclined to not only delete the app but also cancel my subscription. Every article should be optimally displayed for the screen in the app. Instead, it now displays like someone photographed the hard copy edition and loaded it for subscribers as a consolation (sorry, you only subscribed to the digital edition). Either change to the previous digital edition rendering, or at least provide a mode in the app to render the editions, well, legible without zoom, scan and scroll through each paragraph and column.

Stay away from Wired digital subscription. You aren’t allowed to use the app, you have to use your browser and good luck trying to find the current magazine and accessing it in any form of a competent manner. Wasting over 30 minutes with customer “service “ and if I hadn’t found my verification I’d have been out of luck. Oh yeah they’ll mumble about the small print….
  • Great Magazine, Unusable App

As others have pointed out, all this app does is provide typeset pages from the print magazine which are mostly unreadable. They can only be viewed in portrait mode and the text can’t be resized. By the time the user zooms in enough to read the text it’s generally not possible to see a single column width, so you have to constantly pan back and forth to read each line. Text can’t be selected or highlighted. There is no online content. This reminds me of pdf viewer apps for mobile devices from around 15 years ago.
  • Won’t let me access

Have a print subscription but this app suddenly won’t let me access the digital version after years of working.
