  • Poorly updated

The app very frequently doesn’t have updated pieces from the magazines/publishers it purports to provide. Incredibly frustrating, since I know the stories are there, just not available here in audio format. This often extends weeks to many months, with no new pieces at all from some publications (ie. Mother Jones). Seems like the maybe intern/supervisor responsible for certain publications are taking frequent vacations, or are just dropping the ball again and again?? What’s up with that, NYT??? Audm did a much better job.

On any given day you’ll see my husband and I wearing our headphones . Retired and ages 77 and 73 we have many chores . Living on a four acre farm requires harvesting our orchard, tending to 120 Chickens, stocking the farm stand etc. The NYT Audio is my informative and fascinating friend as I go about my daily activities. It makes shoveling poo and composting it for future use, dare I say, educational and fun. The headphones allow hands free to listen and work.

UI has improved but is still somewhat challenging to navigate.
  • Function badly

Terrible performance, it is slow to respond to clicks. When you marked something as played it starts playing that story. Only good to see variety of stories you can listen to. But anything you regularly want to hear use a podcast app and subscribe or follow.

I listen to New York Times audio every day. I do not care for the politics. I wish they would expand more on science, Europe, and every day American culture.

  • Ok App, Buggy, Queue Works Backwards

This app feels pretty polished, but crashes a few times a week. The most annoying part is that when you add things to the queue, it adds them to the TOP of the queue instead of the bottom as is normal behavior. So if you have a few items you are planning to listen to and add something new, it plays that next. Other piece that is kinda lame is that the regular NY Times app doesn’t link to this one. So if I’m reading The NY Times, and see that an article is on audio I have to open this app and search for it, because the link in The NY Times app just opens the in-app audio player. Lastly, I would love if there were a way to filter out the automated voice articles. I have no interest in listening to them.
